Giving Blood

What do you think about giving blood?
And why do you think more people don't do it

I'm interested in the subject and I don'tknow mch about it
I want to discuss it
We seem to always have a hsortage but it seems so easy to fix

Theres a shortage because the amount of people that can actually GIVE blood is really slim.
From memory, some of the requirements are...

Must be over 16
Can't have gotten a tattoo within the past year
Can't have been in england during the mad cow disease time
Can't be on anti biotics

Yeah thats all I remember

I, personally am a blood donor. I've donated twice this year(since I only turned 16 at the end of last year)
I think its one of the best things I've done.

I also think people don't want to give bood because they see it as 'theres' its the same logic many people have about being an organ donor. It is something their own body makes for them and they shouldn't have to share it.

But I hate that attitude. You make blood like theres no tomorrow(if you are healthy) so you can spare some to save another life.

Besides the rules about donating, theres the different blood types.
Because of the slim amount of people who give blood, you have to have a match of blood types.
So that narrows down the field even more for potential blood recipients.

I'd donate if I could.
I'm not 16 so I can't :(

But there must still be a few hundred thousand people within the rules that can give blood.
I find it quite horrible that more people dont give it
I would give blood if I could but under the current circumstances I can't
I have a friend actually who is giving blood tomorrow
Thats what sparked my interest in the subject

I would encourage people to donate blood. I am a little afraid to do it but I think that maybe I should do it anyway.

It's relativley unpainfull and takes little time
And you could help save someones life

I guess it's just becuase of the saftey risk of you loosing too much blood and then having something bad happen to you
You could pass out or loose coordination

I would if I were of age, beacuse other than what Metal just said, I don't see any reasons why helping other people out by donating would be bad for you

There's also the problem that theres many different blood types
I have quite a common blood type
But some people have a very rare blood type
And others that have those rare blood types don't want to donate

Yeah, I've done that before. Your hair needs to be really long however. They cut off 10 inches of your hair and then make wigs for children with cancer with the hair.
