Ok
This isn't just supposed to be a topic about love
Or a debate about love
But whether two people can be in love forever
People change over time
People change dramatically
So are two people really meant to spend the rest of their lives together?
Is there such thing as a soulmate?
I believe that two people *can* love each other for a lifespan of X number of years, But only if those two people change in the same ways, or the same general direction.
Otherwise you would need to find someone else

Love was only the basis for marriage after the 1800's
Before that most marriges were arranged and in some countries still are
But now that people have began to marry for 'love'
The rate of divorce has raise exponentially
Making the theory that two people are not supposed to spend the rest of their lives together even more plausible

What do you think?

I think it's possible.
People only change by influence, or environment.

And usually the influence is from the person you spend the most time with (significant other.)

So, providing that the two people spend time with each other, the concept of 'growing old together' makes very much sense to me.

Also I think this is why so many traveling husbands have affairs.
Lack of wife, and lack of time spent with the wife.

I believe its possible, as long as with time the people change together and not change to be different from each other, you know what I mean?

Ah
I like your thoughts on this
Change does most often come from the people that influence you, but not only your significant other can influence you to change

I like your idea on the travelling husbands though, but ofcourse it can be the wife aswell who has an affair becuase of the lack of a husband

I was just using the husband because it is more common, I think...
But my point was more to illustrate that if you spend the majority of your time with your significant other, they will have a hand in the majority of your changes and growths.

Oh yea ofcourse
And I hadn't perviously thought ofthe fact that your influenced a lot by your significant other, and this would help you change in the same way
Outside influences still are a major factor in someone changing

Maybe. I think there might be, but we don't even know if souls exist to start with. I personally believe in souls though.

If you're happy together, stay together. If you're not happy together, don't be together.
Life is too short to be miserable and it's not fair to either person.

I do think it's unfair for both people if neither of them are happy
I also do agree that people don;t know what love is
But I think that because nearly everyone has a different definition for the word love
Infatuation, Lust and Attraction are all mixed in with love
Aswell as many other things
Personally I think that I may have found love
If it in fact exists

Also on a side note I'm not quite sure whether I believe in souls or not but I used soulmates as a general term

I don't think it matters wether two people are alike or different.

I think two people can stay together if they are willing. it depends on how much trust they have in one another and how much love and respect they have for one another. They have to be able to work their problems out.

But at the same time if two people have no common intrests it would be very boring
And very pointless
Be with someone whom you can enjoy being with
Trust has a lot to do with a relationship lasting though

Likewise, it would be boring if thwe two people liked all the same things.
there needs to be a balance.

I don't believe that 2 individuals can or are meant to stay together forever.
I don't believe in soulmates. I believe in the luck of finding someone good for you.
People, situations, & feelings change too much & too frequently to stay together forever.
I suppose you could if you really wanted to. But I don't believe either party would be happy.
