Do you think it's possible to keep a relationship (Or friendship) alive with distance as a factor?
Being so far away, is it possible to stay close? If not, why? Is it too much of an obstacle?
If you have any personal experiences, & would like to share, feel free to do so.

... Elaborate!

I think it's possible.
However you have to have a good balance between the people around you and the people your away from.

I personally have some friends that live really far away, and we still talk like normal.
I keep them updated on the information here, and they tell me about their lives there.
Nothing really changed between us.

I think it's definitely possible.

But just on the chance you're suggesting an internet relationship I wouldn't recommend it until you're at least 18.

Friendships, sure those are easy long distance, romantic relationships get hard when people can't see each other for months at a time though sometimes. I guess it just depends. I guess I have long distance friendships with all you guys but I really don't talk to my friends that I knew in real life who live far away anymore.

Haha.
I'm all set on relationships.
All of that internet dating stuff isn't really my thing.

I know that long-distance friendships can work.

My absolute best friend in the whole world, Grace, lives in another state. And we're STILL best friends, although we don't get to see each other too often.

I beg to differ on that one.
Long distance relationships are hard as hell if they weren't always long distance. Like when freinds move? If you're really close, it's hard to see them move.

IMO; A long distance *romantic* relationship will most often fail
But a long distance *friendship* can still work

I think long distance friendships can work if you try.

But I don't think long distance relationships can, because for me, personally I need a physical aspect to a relationship. I need lots of hugging, and cuddles and kisses so I can be reassuered that the other isn't cheating on me(yeah its weird I know) So in long distance relationships I freak out because there is no physical aspect and then I don't get my reassurance and so on.

The main problem I have is long distance relationships is the lack of physical contact
You need physical contact in a relationship
And Emma is right
You need to see that person and touch that person to know how they feel
And you can't trust anything anyone types
When you can see a person and look them in the eyes you can see if they're lying
Over the internet your 'girlfriend' could be a 35 year old fat man and you would never know

I think both depend on the people involved and how much patience they have. anybody can succeed anything if they try hard enough, and anyone can fail anything if theygiveup.

Well they could if they really really really wanted too
But it wouldn't be worth it
Not compared to a real relationship
you could never compare the two

Well, at my ripe age, a large part of relationships is experiementation and physical contact. You will rarely marry the partner that you had when you were 14, so theres not that same commitment in most couples.
But that really is what it comes down to. Commitment.
If you're commited enough, then you can make it work. That means staying true and faithful, keepingin contact, etc.

I have always wanted my relationships to last "forever" though I avoid "love" in general since it is painful.

I think that's how we know that it's love, since it hurts
