| This one I wrote last February.
When my heart was made of ice and thorns I would secretly laugh at the couples’ scorn They stood like they were kings and queens Of all of us, the ways and the means I knew that it was only a matter of time Before their romance would decline I watched in silence as their kingdom fell in ashes With flaming tiers and painful gashes I thanked god I would have no heart ache Over lust and lies and passion fake.
And then I wrote this one a few weeks ago.
Carry on your life and bear your battle scars in pride. Let all know that despite the odds you live, even as a walking corpse, you carry on. Dare to live beyond your sorrow and your burdens. Hold your head high as the rain of arrows falls down from the sky. Laugh in the face of pain and move forward. You can only be defeated by life at the abandonment of your own spirit. Becoming absorbed by petty nonsense and insignificant greeds will condemn you to self degradation. Walk amongst the living and look into their naive unjaded eyes and pity them. They would not be standing if they were you. Their arrogance seeds from inexperience. Their shelter makes them feel strong but they are uncalloused and vulnerable once removed. To lie exposed in the fields for days with vultures eating away at your flesh raping you of your skin they look upon you in horror and confusion. Having never been accepted as human they see the flaws beneath your fur. Is this weakness? As ravenous as the vultures, the desire to strip away all that you own at the slightest sign of vitiation.

| They sound like they're written from true, earned experience. Nice job, WD | |

I find the two hard to compare: They are entirely different styles

I think that they are both very well written....I like the first one perhaps a shade more.... But I think thats because I write in a very similar style...
